What makes infrared light therapy saunas different

 Not all saunas are created equal. There are two key decisions to understand when comparing options: heat-based vs. light-based technology, and within infrared, single-spectrum vs. full-spectrum delivery. 


Traditional and infrared saunas operate on different principles, and far infrared differs from full spectrum in depth and breadth of impact. If you’re evaluating them purely on temperature, you’re missing the real differentiator — the range and quality of physiological response each one is designed to produce. 

Infrared Sauna vs. Traditional Sauna

  •  Infrared light therapy - Lower temp to achieve health benefits - targeted light waves penetrate the body to stimulate the health benefits from within at a cellular level, requiring lower temperature and a more comfortable experience. 


  • Traditional saunas - require high temp to achieve benefits - uses a heat source to heat the air, and often include steam to create humidity as well. They heat the air to a point that initiates the body’s natural cooling process. This means blood comes to the surface of the skin and opens the pores but requires HIGHER TEMPERATURES to achieve sweat and benefits.

Why Full Spectrum Saunas Offer Broader Health Benefits Than Far Infrared Alone

Our sauna is Full spectrum sauna - meaning that it delivers near, mid, and far infrared wavelengths, while far infrared (FIR) saunas use only one portion of the spectrum.

  • Near Infrared (NIR): Supports skin health, wound healing, and cellular energy production (mitochondrial function).
     
  • Mid Infrared (MIR): Penetrates soft tissue to support circulation and muscle recovery.
     
  • Far Infrared (FIR): Promotes deep tissue heating, sweating, detoxification, and cardiovascular conditioning.
     

Because full spectrum combines all three, it targets surface tissues, mid-level soft tissue, and deeper structures in one session. FIR alone primarily supports deep heating and sweating but lacks the shorter wavelengths linked to skin repair and cellular performance.
